Australian Science and Engineering Fair — National Finalist with a Commendation Award, placing among the top 1% of young innovators nationwide.
Participated in the AIO, a competition which 'recognises and challenges students with an interest in computer programming'. It exercised my ICT skills, and analytical and algorithmic thinking.
Distinction in the Computation and Algorithmic Thinking competition, placing in the top 10–15%. Beyond scores, this competition challenged my critical thinking and abstract reasoning.
Year 10 Distinction for exceptional performance in competitive national scientific examination. One of the first competitions I participated in at the ASMS.
Year 10 Credit in the national Computational Thinking and logic challenge. Challenged my algorithmic thinking and complex analysis skills.
Year 10 Credit for demonstration of scientific literacy and inquiry skills.
Participant in the premier national mathematics competition run by AMT. This competition challenged my coping under time pressure, critical thinking and mathematics understanding.
Participant in the international Kangaroo Sans Frontieres mathematics competition, one of the largest maths competitions in the world, challenging my logic, algorithmic thinking and maths understanding.
A 2-tier international mathematics competition. I excelled in both tests, achieving the title of 'Elitist', placing me in the top 6% of participants. I was advertised on their website for this achievement.
Selected to participate in the national intermediate mathematics olympiad. Challenged critical and creative thinking, logic and mathematical techniques and procedures.
A 6-month enrichment program extending mathematical thinking beyond the standard curriculum. Topics include functions, symmetric polynomials, geometry, inequalities, functional equations, number theory, counting and graph theory.
Studying a Year 12 subject early because I am passionate about mathematics, and want to free up subject choices for next year (to learn as much as possible!). I am excelling in this subject, with consistently perfect grades (A+).
Gaining accreditation for information technology through a Cert III at TAFE SA. This course includes programming, hardware, networking, and system administration learning. It also builds skills for the work environment such as teamwork and handling policies. I am working ahead to condense the course.
Attended robotics classes while homeschooling, learning how to program the DJI Tello drone, Arduino and Lego Mindstorms EV3. Developed my passion for robotics, STEM and computer science.
Currently studying the fundamentals of cognitive science and neural function through this MicroBachelor course offered by Harvard University.
In Years 10 and 11, completely designed my own school subjects, replacing one of the school's, including content sourcing, scheduling and assignments. Worked independently with support from teachers where necessary.
Submitted a mathematics investigation on modelling the effects of Drug dosage on a patient over time. This exercised both mathematical and scientific understanding, reasoning and communication.
Receiving private electronics tutoring while homeschooling. This opportunity gave me many skills in circuit development, hardware construction and mathematical relationships in electronics.
Speaking at and engaging with the South Australian Secondary Principles Association (SASPA) conference, sharing about my involvement with Changemakers and agency at the ASMS. 300+ principles and school leaders in attendance.
Collaborating with the University of Melbourne and SACE to redesign how learner agency and attributes are observed and assessed in South Australian schools.
Active participant in the Collaborative and Strategic Innovation in Education (COSINE) group at the ASMS. As a group, we have developed a problem of practice: 'How might we create a personalised, co-designed learning framework which supports and empowers all learners?', and we are presently developing a new educational framework to see positive change in this area.
An active member of our student representative and voice committee, Changemakers. Specifically, as a Curriculum Changemaker, we obtain/observe, collate and present student feedback to school leadership and subject leaders, pushing for change where necessary. We are currently developing an AI Code of Conduct for staff and students alike, a major point of contention for both parties.
Representing the school (ASMS) and being a point of contact for international visitors at the International Student Science Fair (ISSF). Also planning events for the week that they will be here.
Nominated as a reserve member of the school governing council, should either of the current student representatives be unavailable.
Engaged in a presentation about the Space Industry in South Australia from Her Excellency the Governer and Australian astronaught Katherine Bennell-Pegg, including Q&A and discussion afterwards.
Welcoming and guiding prospective students during Discovery Day events. This includes writing reflections and helping them fill out booklets which form a significant part of their final application.
Tutoring primary students in mathematics and guiding them in developing a mathematics poster over the course of a year (participated in Years 10 and 11).
Recipient of a Government STEM Scholarship for under-represented people groups in STEM (gender, cultural, socio-economic). Demonstrated aptitudes for academics and STEM, and have used the funds to progress my learning significantly.
Curiosity in the Community (CiC) week is an initiative of the ASMS, where students spend a dedicated week presenting and participating in STEM activities with the broader community. I spent the week presenting STEM activities to primary school students across Adelaide.
This year, I attended the Fort Richmond Collegiate Student Summit in Winnipeg, Canada. Alongside some of my fellow students at the ASMS, this trip developed my understanding of international STEM applications, especially in the agricultural industry, and I was privileged to network with students and educators from around the world. Cultural immersion was another highlight of the trip.
